cover-fq2020-s

Hey there everyone, this is a gentle reminder that the current window for script submissions for FutureQuake & Something Wicked closes next Monday, 31st August.

We have a wealth of new scripts to be read and the standard is as good as we hoped it would be.

Thanks again to all those who have sent scripts and are still waiting for feedback — we ARE reading scripts everyday.

New Comic – Symbolism Rewired.

Art by Roland Bird.

Here’s the thing – I lettered this strip for ACES Weekly by writer Joshua Spiller and artist Roland Bird. So there you have my ‘vested interest’ out of the way.

Creator blurb–

“Silence… silence and poetry fills my thoughts…”

From a deeply surreal and disturbing dream, a woman awakes in a strange sleeping pod, in a disconcertingly deserted laboratory. She has no idea who she is. And even her own mind now feels alien to her…

Set in a faintly estranging London of the not-too-distant future, Symbolism Rewired is a cerebral and grounded piece of sci-fi, that both explores how symbolism may be at the root of human consciousness, and operates as a kind of low-key biography of a fictional future human being.

So now the strip is back to being creator owned (as all ACES WEEKLY strips are, David Lloyd just asks for an exclusive for two years) and Joshua has collected the strip to be read in one sitting and made it available via Gumroad.

The complete strip is available for a mere £1.50 and it is recommended.

If accepted, writers will be informed of the next steps towards getting the script commissioned and turned into a comic strip.

Currently both titles can accommodate around 40 strips a year, so it may be that scripts have a significant delay between acceptance and commission. If that is an issue to you, keep in touch with editorial to see where you are in the lists.

Send all script submissions to futurequakepress@googlemail.com and good luck.
