Here’s the thing – I lettered this strip for ACES Weekly by writer Joshua Spiller and artist Roland Bird. So there you have my ‘vested interest’ out of the way.
“Silence… silence and poetry fills my thoughts…”
From a deeply surreal and disturbing dream, a woman awakes in a strange sleeping pod, in a disconcertingly deserted laboratory. She has no idea who she is. And even her own mind now feels alien to her…
Set in a faintly estranging London of the not-too-distant future, Symbolism Rewired is a cerebral and grounded piece of sci-fi, that both explores how symbolism may be at the root of human consciousness, and operates as a kind of low-key biography of a fictional future human being.
So now the strip is back to being creator owned (as all ACES WEEKLY strips are, David Lloyd just asks for an exclusive for two years) and Joshua has collected the strip to be read in one sitting and made it available via Gumroad.
Adam has been contributing to FQP since 2013 and hasn’t stopped yet! His work has appeared in Dogbreath 35, Something Wicked 2019, FutureQuake 2018, 2019 & 2020 and also Zarjaz – 23, 28, 30 and has strips yet to be seen.
We want to send our heartfelt congratulations to Adam, and wish him all the best in his next steps.
The world may be changing but some things stay the same. Zarjaz is still delivering the highest quality fan thrills available. This issue sees both Lulu Romanov and Judge Storm make their debut under a cover by 2000 AD icon Simon Fraser. 48 pages for a mere £3.00

FQP are pleased to announce that from today, June 3rd to August 31st they are open to new scripts.
FQP titles FutureQuake and Something Wicked are two premiere level titles with a focus on new talent & developing talent and a proven track record in help new creatives hone their skills. Scripts are being welcomed for both titles- script length of ideally 4-6 pages with a ‘twist’ in the tail.
The 2000 AD fanzines Dogbreath & Zarjaz are still open to scripts so there is room for writers of all levels to contribute.
Note that all scripts will be read in the order received and only short stories are being sought. FQP do not publish serials or complete graphic novels.
If accepted, writers will be informed of the next steps towards getting the script commissioned and turned into a comic strip.
Currently both titles can accommodate around 40 strips a year, so it may be that scripts have a significant delay between acceptance and commission. If that is an issue to you, keep in touch with editorial to see where you are in the lists.
Send all script submissions to email@example.com and good luck.
